Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Tests Negative
On December 19, 2017, the Stevensville Public Schools received notice that two of our high school students were exposed to pertussis (whooping cough) when visiting another school in the first week of December. We contacted the Health Department and the two identified students were sent home and referred for medical testing.
The testing results have come back negative. In addition, the entire team from the host school has been tested and those tests have proven negative as well.
We did choose to limit exposure to elementary student by restricting high school students from the elementary buildings. We have several elementary students who are highly susceptible to infections and were simply exercising caution. These precautions are now lifted and students will return to normal routines tomorrow.
